Charles first joined the league in 2013 when he signed with the Thailand Slammers. It did not take long for the American to claim his first set of trophies.
After a strong debut season, where he averaged a double-double, Charles was voted for both Import MVP and Defensive Player of the Year. The accolades proved that the big man was a force on both sides of the floor.
The following year, the newly-renamed Hi-Tech Bangkok City grabbed the second seed after a 20-game regular season. Charles once again put up big numbers — setting himself apart from the rest of the field. For the second season in a row, Chris Charles was named Import MVP.
When Playoffs came, Charles and Hi-Tech Bangkok City could not be stopped. The Thai squad bulldozed through the semifinal and final rounds — sweeping the Singapore Slingers and the Westports Malaysia Dragons respectively. Charles came out of the 2014 ABL season as a champion.
Chris Charles would go on to win the Defensive Player of the Year two more times, and eventually reach a career total of 1726 points — making him #4 in the All-Time Scoring List.
With an ABL title, 2 Import MVPs, and 3 Defensive Player of the Year Awards, it is safe to say that Chris Charles is the ABL All-Time Greats.
