B Division Basketball 2019: Ngee Ann storms past Dunman for East Zone Championship.

Ngee Ann Secondary edged out Dumman Secondary by a slight margin.

“Battle of the east, who will be the last one standing and come out strongest in the east? Team Ngee Ann Secondary or Team Dunman Secondary?”

Ngee Ann had a good run due to #10 from Ngee Ann, he contributed 2 “3-point” baskets to give his team an 8-2 run in the first 2 minutes. It took Dunman a few minutes for their next basket which was also a 3 point shot. Both teams set their defense on such high intensity, which led to them having very few turnovers each. Dunman was able to convert those turnovers into fastbreak points and tied it 10-10 with 2 minutes on the clock. Ngee Ann came out big with 2 steals and 2 baskets to end the quarter. (14-10)

Dunman was lacking in this quarter, they allowed too many 2nd chance points for Ngee Ann. Ngee Ann converted most of it, to have a demanding lead in the 2nd quarter. Dunman could not contain Ngee Ann’s #33 as he had posted up like an anchor in the paint with huge offensive rebounds and scoring. (39-27)

Since the start of the 3rd quarter, Dunman increased the tempo of defense to get a few good runs with points. They managed to catch up to a single-digit deficit and were able to make Ngee Ann panic with their turnovers. Ngee Ann’s #1 Adam was able to calm his team down and control the game tempo and stick to the game plan. (44-39)

As time was winding down, both teams were playing very intense and committed fouls and turnovers that they should not have. Ngee Ann capitalized with the poor defensive rotation by Dunman to get easy points in the paint. During the last 40 seconds, Dunman was only down by 3 points and a timeout was called by Ngee Ann. Ngee Ann’s #10 came out big as he hit a dagger 3 point shot to close out the game. It was an amazing 40 seconds of action and thrill! However, Ngee ann came out as the better team and congrats to them as they emerged as the B Division East Zone Champions in 2019.

End Score 57-50.
