After a disappointing performance during their round robin game against SBA,
SAFSA is coming back stronger than ever with their full squad in the 2019 Sheng
Gong Cup Finals. The height of SAFSA’s starting line up was 180 cm and all of them
had the ability to shoot from behind the arc.
SBA were the first on the scoreboard after a successful 3-point shot by #4
Christian in the first possession of the game. SAFSA answered back instantly with a
3-point of their own to tie the game early on. SBA looked like they were on to a
good start, however after several turnovers, SAFSA took advantage and went on a
10-0 led by #20 Naqib who had 8 points. (20-6)
In the second quarter, despite putting on a good fight, SAFSA were too much for
SBA to handle. After several bad passes by SBA in the final few minutes of the
quarter, SAFSA extended the lead to double digits. (42-28)
The second half of the game was all SAFSA. They were dominating on both ends of
the court and SBA seemed like they had nothing left. They were committing
unnecessary mistakes and just could not score through their set plays or individual
efforts. SAFSA did not stop their engine and showed no mercy to their opponents.
Before the end of the third quarter, SAFSA stretched the lead to almost 40 points.
At this point, SBA were just playing for pride as the margin was too big and they
simply could not handle the overpowered SAFSA squad.
Naqib Borhan was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the game with 23
points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks. SAFSA managed to retain their title
this year after a dominant performance.
The final score was 109-76.
